U.S. Athletic Trust is the first multi-sport NGO dedicated to helping athletes find monetary support for their training. Over 75% of all donations go directly to athletes. DHAC supported over 40 athletes in the four years leading up to the Athens Olympics, with 15 making the Olympic team, and three winning medals. DHAC is a public charity operating under IRS code 501 (c) (3). The financial support programs provide monthly cash stipends to cover basic living expenses (rent, food, clothing, transportation) and health insurance. Other support programs will include assistance with securing part-time employment, provision of post-sport career planning, and mentoring programs. U.S. Athletic Trust aims to devote at least 75% of its income to its mission: the direct financial support of college graduates training for the Olympic Games. This is possible through the reliance upon a network of interested and committed volunteers, web-based operating efficiencies, employing program athletes on a part-time basis, and thoughtful policy creation and implementation. U.S. Athletic Trust is modeled after two a very efficient and successful foundation that supports German athletes, STIFTUNG DEUTSCHE SPORTHILFE. Fully tax-deductible donations of cash and securities from college alumni, friends of Olympic sport, and corporate supporters will constitute the source of U.S. Athletic Trust funding.
